When it comes to achieving big results for your online business, or even your bricks & mortar business, social media should be part of your marketing plan.
Sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Linkedin are a great way to build brand awareness and gain loyal followers, but it also assists in your SEO strategy.
By gaining followers, achieving likes and shares, as well as clicks back to your website from your social media channels builds a perception that your content is valuable, which in term creates authority for your website and overall online presence.
So if you are not utilising social media here are a few tips to get started:
- Create social media accounts for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Linkedin.
- Brand then up with your logo or product images to ensure they have an integrated look and feel to the rest of your marketing.
- Create a Bio for each of the channels. Make them all slightly different, and ensure none of them are word-for-word the same as your website. Keep the Bio short and straight to the point, and ensure you add the primary keywords that describe your business, services, etc. Ensure there is a link back to your website included as well.
Now that you have your social media channels set up you need to drive visitors to them. The best way to do this is by utilizing the blog functionality in WordPress, and write a few short interesting blog posts that your target audience might find interesting/enjoyable, and if possible, make sure it is something they might like to share with others.
Now, once you have posted the blog (and ensure you have a feature image included in the blog), view the bog post and copy the URL (the weblink in your browser) into your social media channel. For example if you add the link into your Facebook page it will automatically pull through the feature image, the article title and description, and it will automatically become clickable, taking the viewer back to your website.
To drive traffic fast, do a boosted post on Facebook, which can cost as little as a couple of dollars per day, and set up the audience you wish to follow. Once you have done this and set the campaign live you can sit back and watch Facebook work it’s magic.
Set up your Google Analytics to measure your visitors from your social media channels, including which pages they viewed on your site once they arrived. This can assist in your future marketing.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN USE SOCIAL MEDIA
You can now broadcast live from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Periscope, allowing you to personally connect with your audience in real time. While this may not be for everyone, creating a 5 minute segment each week or even every day will create a loyal following fast, which is particularly useful for industries such as Real Estate where you can show visitors around the homes, and then invite them to the auction or open home. Remember, you have a global audience of literally billions of people at your disposal, and it costs nothing to reach out to them, so why not give it a try.
There are ways you can encourage visitors to join your mailing list, such as initiating a content via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Encourage them to share the competition, to drive up the visitor numbers, and then push them to your website where you can have a lead page set up to capture their email address to enter the contest. Once captured, you can then start email marketing to your new audience.
